Why an Elimination Diet?

Many who are following my posts, may recall I mentioned that I am on an elimination diet.

Why an elimination diet?

Over the past few years, I started to notice the way my body and its systems are responding to the things I eat:

Feeling groggy, fatigued and unable to wake up fully energized after 8 hrs of sleep, are only a few of my symptoms.  I have also experienced sinus and post nasal drip, bloating, heartburn and more after select foods. To further introspect, I took note of how my body reacts to the main food groups/ingredients I regularly consume like gluten, beans, dairy, sugar, corn, citrus fruits and vegetables that contain lectin (white potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes). I have to be very vigilant when I am eating out, there are hidden ingredients such MSG and aspartame! I began to notice certain items caused more discomfort than others, and the symptoms became more apparent…

This prompted me to take an electrodermal screening for food intolerances. Based on my results, I started an elimination diet to flush my system of toxins and heal my gut and digestive system.

You may be wondering, why am I sharing this?

Food intolerance can be detrimental to our immune system. It creates inflammation, overloads our organs – especially our digestive system – and can cause candida in the gut. Yet, it is something that we often ignore.

My message is to please listen to your body. It has its ways of telling us when we are not okay.
